FOURTH GENERATION

119. (John) Frederick HARTLING (416) (417) was born on 24 Jan 1816 in Oakland, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. (418)

He was married to Sophia WALTERS on 22 Nov 1841.(419) by Hugh McDonald, J.P.

This does not seem like the correct marriage. Philip Hartling has the following to say on the marriage:

"Confusion arises concerning the wives of George and Frederick Hartling. There were two George Hartlings and two Frederick Hartlings, the sons of Peter Hartling and Frederick Hartling. It is also possible that Philip Hartling may have had a son named George since St. James' Anglican Church, Port Dufferin, records the baptisms of children of George and Sophia Hartling. Their residence was Quoddy.

One George Hartling married Mary Jack on 16 March, 1835 and the other married Sophia Whitman on 26 November, 1843. One Frederick Hartling married Ann Pye on 27 November, 1843, and the other married Sophia Walters on 22 November, 1841. The marriage of Frederick Hartling and Ann Pye states that Frederick lived at Liscomb and as Peter Hartling's family lived in the Liscomb area, this Frederick Hartling was probably Peter Hartling's son."

He was married to Ann PYE on 27 Nov 1843.(420) This marriage is likely the correct one. Philip Hartling has the following to say on the marriage:
