FOURTH GENERATION

110. Catherine Barbara HARTLING ⁽³⁷²⁾⁽³⁷³⁾ was born on 6 Sep 1799 in Oakland, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. She died before 1857.⁽³⁷⁴⁾ Harvey's second marriage was on 14 April 1857. Catherine Barbara Harting Harvey must have died before this date.

She was married to George HARVEY on 13 Jun 1819 in Lutheran Church, Lunenburg, N.S..⁽³⁷⁵⁾ George HARVEY⁽³⁷⁶⁾⁽³⁷⁷⁾ was born about 1798.⁽³⁷⁸⁾ He resided before 1819 in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada.⁽³⁷⁹⁾ He resided about 1822 in Quoddy, Halifax, Nova Scotia.⁽³⁸⁰⁾ Hartling cites the obituary for his son George that states that George came to Quoddy with his parents when he was two, i.e, about 1822. Hartling describes him as "formerly of St. John, New Brunswick."

Hartling adds:

"After they left Lunenburg County, the original intention of the Harvey family was to settle at Country Harbour. But instead, the family landed at Quoddy, liked the community, and settled here.(23) The Harvey's first habitation was a log cabin, and George Harvey was engaged in the cord wood and boat building business. Schooners built by George Harvey were the _Dolphin_, 24 tons, built in 1835; _Britannia_, 65 tons, constructed in 1843; and the _Juliann_, 32 tons, built in 1845. John and Alexander owned the _Victoria_, a schooner of 24.87 tons, which was built in 1861. All four schooners were constructed at the Bay of Islands. In the Census of 1827 George Harvey is shown as having six cultivated acres, which yielded ten bushels of grain other than wheat, one hundred bushels of potatoes, and six tons of hay. He kept six head of cattle, twelve sheep, and three pigs."

(23) Oral information was given by Mrs. Luella Fanning, Dartmouth. Catherine Barbara HARTLING and George HARVEY had the following children:
