Document on display at the Des Brisay Museum, Bridgewater, N.S., supposedly in the hand of Michael Hirtle:

"In the year 1740, March 18th, Philip Hirtle was born, between the hours of six and seven in the morning, in the sign of the sun. (and died in the year 1811, at the age of 71 years, 7 months, and 20 days. God give him Eternal rest.)"

He was married to Anna Maria FINCK on 28 Nov 1763 in St. John's Anglican Church, Lunenburg, Lunenburg, NS.⁽¹¹⁾ Thoresen gives the date as 29 Nov. 1763, not 28 Nov. 1763. Philip Christian HIRTLE and Anna Maria FINCK had the following children:

I think that Thoresen may have confused this Susanna Elizabeth HIRTLE with the Susanna Elizabeth HIRTLE born to Philip Hirtle and Susanna Elizabeth Burgogyne on 07/16/1785. There is only one Susanna Elizabeth Hirtle listed in Shankle's online index as being born in 1785, and the birth date is only 5 months away from the birth date of the next child in this family. Finally the baptisms of the other children in this family are recorded, but hers is not.
54 x. Johannes HIRTLE⁽⁵⁰⁾ was born on 23 Dec 1785 in Zion Lutheran Church, Lunenburg, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. ⁽⁵¹⁾ He was baptized on 11 Jan 1786 in Zion Lutheran Church, Lunenburg, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.⁽⁵²⁾ He died on 1 Oct 1793. Baptised January 11, Lutheran.
