Joseph Herman\Hiram HIRTLE⁽¹³⁾⁽⁶⁶⁸⁾ was born on 4 Jun 1868 or 24 Jun 1868 in Charleston, Queens, Nova Scotia.⁽¹³⁾⁽⁶⁶⁸⁾ Blair Whynacht has the date as 4 June 1868; Steven Hartlen says 24 June 1868. He died on 27 Jul 1960 in Charleston, Queens, Nova Scotia. He was buried in Old Charleston Cemetery. Blair Whynacht has the middle name as "Herman," Steven Hartlen has it as "Hiram."

He was married to Elishi RHYNO on 2 Nov 1892.⁽¹³⁾ Elishi RHYNO⁽⁶⁶⁸⁾⁽¹³⁾ was born on 22 Dec 1873. She died on 22 Mar 1969. She was buried in Old Charleston Cemetery. Hartlen gave the name as "Lishi Ada RHYNO." Since Blair Whynacht had birth and death dates, I have followed his form. Joseph Herman\Hiram HIRTLE and Elishi RHYNO had the following children:
